Bio
All information is based on Texas Czech Family Histories. Texas Czech Genealogical Society, Vol II, 2005. Family History M-10, Malek, Franz, Julia Kniezch (Knezek): Roots of the Maleks in Texas. Marianna was the daughter of Josef Schiler and Theresia Holisch. She was born on 22 Aug 1810 in Krivem, Moravia. She married Wenzl (German for Vaclav) Malek on 2 July 1830 in Krivem. Along with their five children they came to America in 1855 and were first enumerated in Austin County, Texas on 2 July 1860. Catholic Church records in Frelsburg show that Mariann's daughter, Marianna, married Martin Cunek on June 26, 1865. Son Frank and his sister Barbara served as witnesses. Martin Cunek had arrived in Galveston on 3 June 1855 with a group of 13 Czech families primarily from the Vsetin area of eastern Moravia as he was. (p. 6 of Vol. I)
