Son of Joseph W. & Sophia (Bogus) Shemek. Married to Florence Elaine Anderson on 10-20-1939 at the rectory of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at Genoa, NE. He worked at Consumer's Power District, now known as the Loup Power District. He retired in 1980 with 36 years of service, having never taken a sick day. He was involved with music for most of his life. His talents allowed him to play the trumpet, violin, piano and bass violin. He started playing with the John Ziemba band and also played with the Siemek Band in Columbus, Prososki's Orchestra and Ken Maurer's Orchestra, performing many appearances around Nebraska. Ed also sang in the Community Choir and sang/directed the St. Peter's Catholic Church Choir for 35 years.
