Catherine Rita Maslonka was born on November 4, 1920, the youngest of eleven children (6 boys and 5 girls), to John and Anna (Baron) Maslonka in Walthill, NE. Catherine was raised and schooled in Walthill and she graduated from Walthill High School with the class of 1938. She met the love of her life Lewis Henry Dunn and they were later married on August 2, 1942 at the Presbyterian Church on 23rd Street in Denver, CO. Catherine and Lewis made their home in Walthill. Catherine was a loving wife and a jack of all trades, homemaker, farmer, carpenter, quilter, gardener, and store owner. She was best known for her thrift store in Walthill; she was the sole owner and proprietor. She loved to attend auctions to supply her store with goods. She cared for her husband for years following his stroke until in 2003 they moved to The Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, where they spent the remainder of their days. Catherine and Lewis were married for 70 years before his death in 2012. Catherine was dearly loved by many residents and employees at The Masonic Home. Prior to their move to Plattsmouth, they faithfully attended Faith United Presbyterian Church. The family gathered each year at Labor Day to attend a potluck hosted by Catherine.
