Hazel Modean Flanery Riser was born December 4, 1925 in Collin County, Texas. She died August 27, 2021 in Richardson, Texas. She lived to the age of 95. Hazel Modean, often called "Deanie" by her family, was the eldest child of Clarence Benton Flanery and Euna Garner Flanery. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Betty Edna Flanery Bailey and Glenda Jean Flanery, husband George Pettus Riser, and his sons George Riser Jr., Paul, and Donald. Hazel spent most of her adult life in Miami Springs, Florida. During her time in the Miami area, she was proudly employed by Eastern Airlines for 28 years, then helped her husband open and run a successful appliance store. She enjoyed a rich social life into her 90s. Her favorite activities were dining out and visiting with others. Hazel truly made friends wherever she went. She is survived by step daughter Judy Riser of Charleston, South Carolina, and her nephew, Keaven Dean Bailey of Richardson, Texas and his family.
