Joyce Marie (Carter) Smith October 31, 1938 ~ August 29, 2021 (age 82) Joyce Marie Carter Smith, 82, of Pleasant Grove passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at her home. Joyce was born October 31, 1938 in Lindon, Utah to Orville and Caroline Shoell Carter. She married Marvin Everett Smith on July 24, 1956 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Joyce grew up in Lindon and attended schools in Pleasant Grove, graduating from Pleasant Grove High School. Joyce raised her family in Pleasant Grove and worked at the Ben Franklin store on Main Street for many years. She also worked in the school lunch program for Alpine School District. Joyce enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and making necklaces. She loved day-time soap operas and especially enjoyed Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. She is survived by her husband Marvin of Pleasant Grove; four children: Harold (Lori) Smith, South Jordan; Jay Smith, San Jose, CA; Robert (Terry) Smith, Clinton, Iowa and Danny Smith, Pleasant Grove; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; six siblings: Melba Houtz, Pink Carter, Buck Carter, Gene Carter, Roy Carter, Carolyn Peacock and Gary Carter. She was preceded in death by her daughter Cathy Weight, her parents and four siblings. Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 9:30-11:30 am at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Graveside services will follow the viewing at 12:00 noon in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
