Kenneth Wayne Woolery, 90, of Scottsbluff, NE passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025. His funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Central Church of Christ in Gering, NE with Pastors Rocky Woolery and Lyle Hinebauch officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service. A memorial service will be held at 10am CST on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Litchfield Christian Church in Litchfield, NE. Interment will follow at the Litchfield Cemetery. Kenneth was born June 22, 1935 to Clarence J. & Esther M, (Moore) Woolery. He was the 4th child in a family of seven children. He was raised in northwest Nebraska, and moved frequently until they settled in Chadron, NE where he graduated from Chadron Prep. His formative years were spent working at various jobs, but his joy was being a part of the local Boy Scouts. After high school he joined the Army as a member of the 503rd Airborne Infantry. He exited with the rank of corporal in 1956. After his military career, attended Chadron State college and earned his degree in education. During his time there, he met and married the love of his life, Sharon Mae Benckeser, on June 28, 1959 in Brule, Nebraska. To this union were born five children. Wanting to further his Pastoral Ministry he attended Nebraska Christian College and Boise Bible College. He spent his working years teaching and preaching in various towns in Nebraska. He retired from teaching in 1998 and returned to Litchfield to continue preaching until 2017. After Sharon passed away in 2019, he moved to Scottsbluff to be near family, and entered the Western Nebraska Veteran's home, where he resided until he passed away. Kenneth was proceeded in death by his parents, five siblings and his surrogate father Ira (Blackie) Barnett. He is survived by a sister; Ellen (Clayton) Barker of Crawford, NE; children Linda (Jim) Dietz of Scottsbluff, NE, Monte (Kim) Woolery of Kenesaw, NE, Kelli (Ken) Fiscus of Albert Lea, MN, Rocky (Brenna) Woolery of Decatur, IL, and Misti (Dan) Lincoln, of Austria; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
