Bio

Lawrence Ray Harrison was born on December 16th, 1941 in Alma, TX to Earl and Opal (Burns) Harrison. Ray, as we all know him, grew up in Ennis, TX and lived there until he joined the Navy, with his parent's consent, at the age of 16. He saw the world from the deck of a ship and was stationed in several coastal towns, one of which was San Diego. The other was in Poway, a small town just north of the Navy base where he met a red head named Helen Yount. They were married shortly after Ray's discharge from the Navy. They moved to Fort Worth where Ray completed auto body school. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Wesley Chock, LaDara Raye, and Darin Gene Harrison. They moved to Oklahoma City where Ray had found employment. Ray was offered the manager's position at the Ford dealership in Tahlequah, so the family moved to Keys where they built their home and retired in 2005. They sold their home and moved to Sapulpa, OK to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Ray was overcome with a brain tumor which was fast growing and malignant. After a short illness, he went to live with Jesus and join many family members including their daughter LaDara. He was a member of FBC Sapulpa, an ordained deacon, and former Sunday school teacher and director. He loved to play his banjo and bluegrass music. He is preceeded in death by his parents, daughter, LaDara, brother, Wayne, and sister, LaVon. He leaves behind a wife, Helen of the home, and two sons, Darin and Wesley, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, as well as a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention. Memorial services for Ray Harrison will be held on Thursday, August 5th, 2021 at 11:00am at Park Hill Baptist Church with Reverend John Lee officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Deacons of Park Hill Baptist Church. Reed Culver Funeral Home, Tahlequah, OK
