Obituary for John Foster John R. Foster, age 96, died peacefully at his home in Storm Lake, Iowa on July 29, 2021. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Burial will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa with Military Honors. Visitation will be Monday, August 2, 2021 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. A parish vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with a KC Rosary to follow after the visitation. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements. John was born June 10, 1925 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Thomas Andrew and Verona Nora Foster. He was baptized in the Catholic faith and confirmed by Monsignor M.M. Kaczmarek at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. John graduated from Lincoln High School in June of 1943 and entered the service for WWII shortly thereafter. He served with the Co. B 135 Infantry 34th Division in the Italian Theatre until wounded in October of 1944. He was honorably discharged in November of 1945 and returned to Lincoln. He then attended the University of Nebraska, graduating in January of 1950. On September 8, 1951, John was united in holy matrimony to Mary Devine Brennan in St. Patrick's Church in O'Neill. The loving couple was blessed with eight children: Thomas, Robert, Edward, Ann, Richard, John P., Andrew, and Matthew. John's occupation his entire life was in sales. He started the John R. Foster Company in 1978, which marketed golf course supplies. August 23, 2008 was his official last day of business. Outside of work and caring for his family, John enjoyed music, reading, traveling, and Saturday afternoons at Puffs. He was a faithful, lifelong member of the Catholic Church, attending St. Mary's Church in Storm Lake. John was a proud member of the Knight's of Columbus Club. Those left to cherish John's memory include his children: Thomas (Mary McGranaghan) Foster of Omaha, Nebraska; Edward Foster of Des Moines, Iowa; Ann Elizabeth (Daniel) Braly of Lakehills, Texas; John Patrick Foster of Storm Lake, Iowa; Andrew Foster of New Braunfels, Texas; Matthew Foster of Coralville, Iowa; grandchildren: Aaron (Stacey) Boger; Whitney (Mark) Guvernator; Brennan Foster; step-grandchildren: Lori (Stephen) Priest; Steven (Brandy) Braly; great-grandchildren: Barrett, Easton, and Noah Boger; E.J. (Rosalie) Guvernator; Ashley (Abe) Cisneros; Chandler (Aspen) Guvernator; Kaylan Guvernator; Cash and Judge Priest; Steven, Aubriana, and Mekayla Braly; Madilyn, Jeremiah, Catherine, and Nathan Couls; great-great-grandchildren: Rex, Whitton, and Penelope Guvernator; Nayeli Elizondo; sister-in-law, Maxine (Neil) Brennan; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Andrew and Verona Nora Foster; wife, Mary Devine Brennan; sons, Richard and Robert Foster; son-in-law, Daniel Braly; sisters, Virginia Lershen, Jeanne Aldrich, and Maryann Rogers; brother, Robert Foster; and brother-in-law John L. Brennan.
