Son of Adolph Jr. & Emma (Korte) Hoge. He grew up in Columbus and graduated from Kramer High School in 1944. Following high school, he served two years in the Infantry and Air Force Communications in the Philippines and Japan. Upon return from military duty, he began work at Reed, Veach, Wurdeman & Associates and continued there for 27 years. In 1974, he accepted a position as operations manager at Cornhusker Public Power District. In 1978, the board of directors appointed Norman general manager, a position he held until his retirement in 1993. On June 27, 1948, he married Marilyn Brown in Columbus. He was active in a number of community organizations, including the Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He also was a member of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American Legion and Trinity Lutheran Church. He also served on the state legislative committee and the economic development committee for the Nebraska Rural Electric Association (NREA). He was a regular attendee at training courses and conferences sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Assn. (NRECA). He had held the following offices: president of Rotary; president of the Columbus Family Y Board of Directors; vice commander and athletic director of the American Legion; president of the Columbus Baseball Assn.; director of Columbus Little League Baseball; Nebraska director of Pony League Baseball; president of NREA Manager's Assn.; and head usher for more than 30 years at Trinity Lutheran Church. Norm enjoyed taking care of his yard, playing golf, and being a spectator at various sporting events. Norman is survived by: Spouse - Marilyn Hoge - Columbus, NE Daughter - Jane Hoge - Falls Church, VA Son - Jeff (Fernella) Hoge - Las Vegas, NV Son - Jim (Sue) Hoge - Columbus, NE Daughter - Jill Pierson - McCook, NE Sister - Betty (Don) Haskins - Columbus, NE Grandchildren - Jeff & Fernella's - Amber Hoge & Aaron Hoge Jill's - Blayne Pierson & Heath Pierson Jim & Sue's - Jaime Hoge & Nicole Hoge Norman was preceded in death by: Father - Adolph Hoge Jr. Mother - Emma (Korte) Hoge
