Doris Buchta A private memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 3, for Casper resident Doris Buchta, 93, who died July 29, 2005, in the care of Central Wyoming Hospice Home. Cremation will have taken place and her ashes will be scattered at Grave Springs in the Big Horn Mountains, beside those of her son, Set. Major Lynn J. Woodard, who died in 1997. She was born July 10, 1912, in Boyne City, Mich. An active sportswoman in Michigan and Wyoming, she was a founder of the Southeastern Michigan Sportsman Club; and was elected as a director of Michigan United Conservation Clubs, where she helped win passage of that state's bottle-deposit law. She owned and operated two beauty shops in Michigan and the Harper Motel in Thermopolis. Before moving to Casper, she and her husband, Eddie Buchta, lived in Moneta. He preceded her in death. A member of the Extension Club and Eagles Club Drill Team, she was known for her keen intellect and "sometimes outrageous sense of humor"; was a voracious reader; and enjoyed writing letters to the editor. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Doris Jean O'Dell of Arminto and Leila Markle of Louisiana; son, Paul Courter, and his wife of Florida; two sisters, Juanita and Josephine; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. In addition to her son and Mr. Buchta, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Arthur Woodard and Wallace E. Courter. The family would appreciate memorials to Central Wyoming Hospice Home, 319 S. Wilson St., Casper, WY 82601. Casper Star-Tribune Casper, Wyoming 2 Aug 2005,
