Bio

On Sunday, July 11th, 2021, Jack Aper passed away at the age of 84, in Orlando FL. He was born August 31, 1936, in Lafayette, to the late William W. Aper and Helen (Northrup) Mull. Jack also had a loving stepmother, Virginia (Harrer) Aper , who was a true New Yorker, and anchor of the Aper family. Jack enlisted in the United State Marine Corps at the early age of 17, soon after enlisting, his young age was revealed, and he needed to obtain the consent of his parents prior to serving his country. Corporal Aper served as an aviation mechanic from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1956 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Upon returning home from the USMC, Jack dedicated 30 years of service as the Supervisor of T27, for Eli Lilly and Company. Retiring at the age of 55, he began a new adventure and life in Orlando, FL and even resided on a golf course. Jack's true passion was golf. His good friends, Dean and Claudette, say he was the "king of the course." After retirement, Jack gave another 15 years of service to a Florida Auction in Ocoee, FL selling cars, and then another 14 years of service to Fairways Golf course in Orlando, keeping the greens in tip top shape, sometimes starting his day as early as 2:00 am. An avid golfer, Jack held many golfing records back home in Indiana. Jack is survived by three daughters; Jackie Aper of West Lafayette, Joani Sandefer of Lafayette, and Dollie Aper of West Lafayette; a stepdaughter, Dana Woods of Lafayette; 2 stepsons, Darin Woods and David Woods, both of Lafayette; ex-wife and friend; Joan Woods; 1 brother, Thomas (Eileen)Aper of Orlando, FL.; 2 sisters, Mary (Jerry) Hollis of Lafayette and Marsha (Mike) Mull-Comer of Lakeland, FL. Also surviving are several grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Glenda Aper; sister, Kathleen (Don) White; 2 brothers, Bill (Pamela) Aper and James Aper. Services entrusted to Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
