Betty was born on June 10, 1959 to Lester and Marie Arnold in Leaday, Texas. Family then moved to Coleman, Texas where she met her husband and they started their life together on September 19, 1959. They raised one child together, Keith born Oct. 5, 1960 and settled in Merkel, Texas to watch him grow up. Betty's hobbies included crocheting afghans which were the most beautiful ones ever made. Her most enjoyment was playing cards with her son and his wife, sometimes all night long. She loved beating her husband and son when she played partners with her daughter in law. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Ralph and Gene Arnold. Betty is survived by her husband Kenneth Shields of Merkel; her son and daughter-in-law Keith and Liz Shields of Anson; her grandson Matthew Shields of Anson; her sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and David Perkins of Abilene, Texas along with numerous nieces and nephews.
