Full name: Virdie Liston Boyd McGehee The headstone is incorrect. The name is Virdie, not Virgie. It is sometimes spelled Verdie. Born to Robert C. Liston (1844–1913) & Eudora Dolesca "Dora" Wilson Liston (1852–1908). Virdie married 1) James L. Boyd (1871-1922) on Jan. 1, 1901, in Montgomery County, MS. Children: Mary Boyd Nelms (1901-1979) Dolesca Wilson Boyd (1903–1977) Erma Boyd McClurg (1906–1931) Virdie married 2) Frank Emmett McGehee (1869-1950) on Feb. 14, 1931, in Winona, MS. No children. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The obituary below and the obituary at left describe two separate funerals at different churches for the same person. Both are correct. From the Winona (MS) Times, February 3, 1950: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Virdie Liston McGehee at 11 am on January 27th at the Poplar Creek Presbyterian Church. The Rev. R. S. Lowe of the Winona Presbyterian Church conducted the services. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lee Funeral Home m charge of arrangements. Mrs. McGehee, 70, died at Smithdale in Franklin County, Mississippi, on January 25. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Eudora Wilson Liston. She was first married to Jim Boyd, who preceded her in death many years. Survivors include her husband, F. E. McGehee, Smithdale, Miss., two daughters, Mrs. Mary Nelms and Miss Dolesca Boyd, Isola, Miss., four brothers, Wiley and Will Liston, Kilmichael, L. J. Liston, Florida, and Victor Liston, Nashville, Tenn., and two sisters, Miss Alma Liston, New Orleans, and Mrs. Edith Butler, Little Rock. She also leaves six grandchildren, Mrs. Kathleen Hoover, Doddsville, Mrs. Irma Dean Mitchell, Ruleville, Helen, Edward, and Kimmie Nelms, Isola, Jimmie McClurg, Smith dale, and one great-grandchild, Tita Jean Hoover, Doddsville.
