Bio

Elaine M. Salonek, age 86, formerly of Delano, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016. She was born in 1929, in rural Delano, the oldest of four children born to Lawrence and Emelia (Lewno) Kittock. Elaine was a 1947 graduate of Delano High School. She married Paul J. Salonek in 1948. The couple settled on a farm southwest of Waverly, and together raised eight children. Elaine enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, camping, dancing, and baking, especially apple pies and wedding and special occasion cakes. She did food demonstrations at Lund's stores in the metro area for several years, and later took the position of receptionist at Airtex in Cokato, where she worked for nearly 14 years, retiring at age 73. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Larry and his wife Marcella; and a sister Virginia and her husband, Don Keesling of Wayzata. She is survived by her husband, Paul; children Peggy Salonek, Nancy (Steve) Stotko, Scott (Tammy) Salonek, Becky (Rodney) Scherping, Mike (Renee) Salonek, Pat (Jessie) Salonek, Linda (Bob) Artmann, and Chris Salonek; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dennis and his wife, Helen Kittock of Arlington.
