Inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 1st at Albion United Methodist Church. Ed was born on December 21, 1940, in a small home outside of Loretto, Nebraska, to Patrick and Edna (Spiegel) Kelley. He attended school at District 72 and District 49 through 8th grade and graduated from Albion High School in 1958. As a teenager, he worked at the Loretto Gas Station. Ed later worked for JC Penney in Albion and the Albion Alfalfa Mill before transitioning to road construction with Missouri Valley. During that time, he built roads across Nebraska, including portions of Interstate 80 in western Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Karen Johnson on July 27, 1963, at the Albion United Methodist Church. Together they had three children: Angie, Jennifer, and John. After returning to Albion, he opened Ed's Radiator Shop in 1973. For 48 years, he fixed the unfixable and rarely met a stranger. Outside of being a loving husband, a wonderful father, and grandfather, Ed was a skilled fisherman. He loved tinkering and building gadgets for his boats and working on his dad's '47 Minneapolis Moline tractor. Ed was a modest man who valued dedication and hard work while earning an honest living. He also enjoyed his garden, woodworking, going to the races, and cooking breakfast for his grandkids. Ed is survived by his wife, Karen of Albion; sister, Mary Ann Mescher of Albion; children, Angie (Dan) Zoucha and John (Brea) Kelley, both of Albion; grandchildren, Ashley (Nick) Krohn of Albion, Kalvin (Kaleigh) Zoucha of Valdosta, GA, Austin (Emily) Zoucha of Lincoln, Kaleb Kelley, Bryce Kelley, Karley Zoucha, and Emilie Kelley, all of Albion; great-grandchildren, Maggie and Sawyer Krohn, Eli and Zoey Zoucha, and Annie and Rae Zoucha. Ed is preceded in death by his parents and his infant daughter, Jennifer.
