Dominick Edward Malek of 1835 Easton Drive, Houston, died at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 1967 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Houston, after suffering a heart attack on a bus while going home from work that evening. He attained the age of 55 years, 1 month and 2 days. Just a few days prior, on October 8, he was in Columbus visiting his brother, Lambert, and attended the church picnic. Mr. Malek was a fireman for the city of Houston for 30 years, a member of St. Christopher Church and The Knights of Columbus Council No. 3077. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 13 with Requiem Mass at St. Christopher Catholic Church with the Rev. W. O'Brain officiating. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 12 at Earthman Funeral Home where the body lay in state. Burial was in Garden of Gethsemane, Houston. Pallbearers were Hugo Stoeltje Jr., Clifford, Adolph and Willibald Malek, all of Houston, Frank Malek Jr. of Bryan and James West of Austin. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Houston Fire Department. Mr. Malek was born September 9, 1912 near Fayetteville, Fayette County, Texas son of Joe and Mary (Casper) Malek. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Yoakum where he was reared and he resided there until 1931. In 1935, he was married to Camille Meloncon in Beaumont. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Camille Malek; one daughter, Mrs. Barth (Nola) Beddingfield; two sons, Robert Lee and Ronald Curtis Malek, all of Houston; four brothers, Lambert Malek of Columbus, Joe, Frank and Jerome Malek, all of Houston; three sisters, Mrs. Hugo (Alice) Stoeltje Sr. of Yoakum, Mrs. J. E. (Leona) West of Austin, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Gurecky of Beeville; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father in 1958, his mother in 1955; a brother, Anthony died in 1934 at the age of 18 years, and a sister, Sister M. Dominic of Nazareth Convent, Victoria, died in 1944.
