ROBERT EDGAR "ED" STANLEY JR. was the son of Robert Edd Stanley and Mrs. Lillie Edna Lenora (Findley) Stanley. Obituary "Funeral services for R.E. "Ed" Stanley, 58, of Jefferson, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Haggard Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Pat Titsworth officiating. Graveside services and burial were at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Old Palestine Cemetery, in Alto. After a sudden illness, Mr. Stanley died Thursday evening, September 30, 1982 in Marion County Hospital. Born July 23, 1924, in alton, he was the son of Robert E. Stanley Sr. and Lillie Findley Stanley. He had lived in Jefferson, Texas since 1973 moving from Hampton, Arkansas. Mr. Stanley was a member of First Baptist Church, of Jefferson, where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the American and Texas Forester Associations, and he had been employed by International Paper Company for 30 years. He held the post of timberland supervisor. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Stanley, of Jefferson; two sons, Wren Woods Stanley, of Gilmer, and Keith Kelly Stanley, of Silver City, New Mexico; his mother, of Alto; a brother, Rayford C. Stanley, of Port Arthur; one sister, Ruth Schaeffer, of Alto; one grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Roy Peterson, Jim Huston, Jim Turk, Marvin Hopper, Clarence Hearne and L.D. Bectum."
