Frederick Althus Chastain was the son of Joseph Rice Chastain and Mrs. Frances Elizabeth (Fox) Chastain. Obituary "Rites Conducted For Brother Of Marshall Resident --- Fred A. Chastain, 64, a former Marshall resident, died Monday at Greenville, Mississippi, and funeral services were conducted Wednesday. Mr. Chastain had been in ill health for more than a year. Born at Greenville, Texas, later lived in Marshall, Texas, and then moved to Mississippi in 1926 to make his home at Merigold. He moved to Greenville in 1929. Mr. Chastain was a carpenter. He is survived by his wife; a son, Edgar James "E.J." Chastain, of Greenville, Mississippi; four daughters, Mrs. P.A. {Louise} Godwin, Mrs. H.J. {Doris} Belongea and Mrs. L.E. {Ruby} Allen, all of Greenville, Mississippi, and Mrs. W.T. {Lettie Dee} King, of St. Petersburg, Florida; five grandchildren; and a brother, George Clarence "G.C." Chastain, of Marshall, Texas, who attended the services. The pallbearers include Howard Guice, R.B. Byars, William Godwin, Julius Godwin, Herman Caillouet, Horace Eubanks, O.H. Akins and F.L. Buchanan Sr., all active, and J.E.
