Bio

LAM, Shirley Shirley, a native Dallas site, grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School. As a young woman she worked at several jobs before becoming a stenographer with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and rose through the ranks to become a Special Investigator. She retired from the FBI after a career spanning 27 years while working in the Dallas, Omaha, Washington D.C. Field Offices before finally retiring from the Dallas office. She met her future husband, Robert Lam, on a blind date to the State Fair. They were engaged in days and married less than a year later. They were married 53 years. In 1976 they adopted their only son Brian whose love gave her joy to her final days. Shirley was a woman of great passion, spirit and love. Not born to advantage she made her way through life and enjoyed many successes. Much loved by those who knew her she will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents Eldon Garvin Glenn and Frances King Glenn; sister Linda Grove; brothers Jerry Wayne Glenn and Eldon Raymond Glenn. She is survived by her brother Ronnie Glenn of Tahlequah, OK and husband Robert Lam. and son and daughter-in-law Brian Travis Lam and Nadia Luna Lam. Also many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 14 at 10 a.m. at Long Creek Cemetery, 504 Long Creek, Sunnyvale, Texas. Published in Dallas Morning News on Jun. 13, 2021.
