Mrs. Lou Ella Riess was a music teacher for 60 years, She was a member of Piano Progressive Music Education, American Accordion Association, Piano Teachers Guild, Scholarship Awards European Master Session Vienna, Austria, Grotto and Ladies Oriental Shrine, and Eastern Star recipient of the Medallion of Merit Award. Funeral services were held Monday, December 5, 1994 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home with Reverend Ed Pounders officiating. Interment followed at Forest Park East Cemetery. From obituary in the Houston Chronicle, Sunday, December 4, 1994, Page 43. ________________ Daughter of William Coleman Smith and Nancy Luvenia (Tunsford) Smith, per her birth record. Her mother died in Houston on 25 Jan 1944. Marriages, both in Houston: 1) Roy Lee Wease from St Louis, on 26 Feb 1924. 2) Alvin Herman Riess on 10 Jan 1929 Her first husband, Roy Lee Wease, was an orchestra leader and an auto parts salesman at the time of his death, which was due to injuries from an automoble accident in Houston. His body was sent to St Louis for burial. ______________ The names of Lou Ella Riess and her husband Alvin Herman Riess are engraved on a memorial bench in Washington Cemetery in Houston where Alvin's parents and grandparents are interred, but their graves are at Forest Park East Cemetery, per the the Billion Graves website and their obituaries.
