Annie "Barbara" Simek, fondly known as Mom, Grandma and Ma, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 24, 2021, in Round Rock, after a very brief illness. She was born on February 8, 1931 on a family farm in Jarrell, Texas, to Frank Knapek, Sr. and Anastasia Valis Knapek. She worked hard in the fields and attended school at the Holy Trinity Catholic School in Corn Hill and then attended Jarrell High School. She married the love of her life, Frank Simek, Sr., on February 15, 1949 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Corn Hill; and they created a loving home for their 4 children and served as a perfect role model of how a Christian loving family should live, until Frank passed away in 2000, after 51 years of marriage. She had missed him very much for the last 21 years and talked about him daily. She was a devout Catholic and a life-time member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Corn Hill. Frank and Barbara could be seen over their 51 years of marriage at numerous dances, because they loved to dance, when they weren't enjoying an afternoon of fishing together. When Frank passed, she continued her love for fishing with her children and grandchildren. She was a great cook and enjoyed spending time with her family, and always had an open invitation for Sunday lunches. Her kolaches were delicious and her recipes are now cherished. She enjoyed gardening and canning, as well as taking care of her chickens and attending rodeos. She could be seen in the audience at school functions or stadium bleachers supporting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was their biggest fan and supporter. She prayed daily for the whole family. Her love for God and the Blessed Mother will be shared throughout generations, as will her love for animals and the moon. In addition to being a homemaker and babysitting her grandchildren throughout the years, which was her favorite job, she retired from Jarrell ISD after working 21 years in the school cafeteria. In later years, she went back to work cooking in the school cafeteria at the Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic School in Granger, Texas. She held various positions for over 40 years at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, including taking care of the church linens and altars, caring for the plants, cleaning the priest's rectory and religious education building. In addition to her parents and loving husband, Barbara was predeceased by 3 infant siblings, and her infant grandson, Jesse Peace. Barbara loved and cherished her family, and she will be missed very much by her four children, Frankie Simek, Jr. (wife, Mary); Gene Simek, Dianne Simek Peace and Ronnie Simek all of Jarrell. Her grandchildren Chris Simek (wife, Denise) of Spicewood; Frank Simek III (wife, Noelle) of Austin; Megan Peace Smith (husband, Brandon) of Walburg; and Lane Peace of Stephenville. Her great grandchildren Kylie Cruse, Stacia Cruse, Joshua Peralta, Brody Simek, Raelyn Smith and Blake Simek. She is also survived by her siblings Rosemary Zurovetz, Claudia Rosipal, Elsie Parrish, Frank Knapek, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Georgetown, TX with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2021 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jarrell, TX. Direct memorial contributions to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Corn Hill.
