Leona McCollough, 97, of Pitkin, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at High Hope Care Center. She was born to her late parents, Ainsley and Alice Brister on Mar. 5, 1921 in Pitkin. She was a member of the Six Mile United Pentecostal Church of Pitkin. She loved attending her church, reading, gardening, and painting ceramics. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Laverne Foxton and husband Ian of DeQuincy, Judy Ann Johnson of Groves, Texas; grandchildren, James Maddox and wife Denise of DeQuincy, Barry Maddox and wife Rachel of Bend, Ore., LaTane Rodriguez and husband Juan of Port Neches, Texas, Shane Droddy and wife Tammy of Groves, Texas, Rosemary Carroll of Pitkin, Calvin Simmons and wife Marsha of Pitkin, Jeaneen Brown of Deridder, and Dwayne Simmons of Lake Charles; 23 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren. Leona was preceded in death by her husbandand father of her children, Dolph Nolen; and second husband, Louis McCollough; one daughter, Lois Nolen Simmons; along with five sisters, Arlie Bond, Ruthie Stephens, Tressie Jackson, Mertie Cloud, and Angie Cook. Services were held at Six Mile Pentecostal Church of Pitkin on Saturday, July 28, at 1 p.m. with Bro. L. E. Robertson and Bro. Mike Nolen officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service at Six Mile Pentecostal Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial followed at Blue Branch Cemetery in Pitkin. Services were entrusted to Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
