Paulene Evelyn (Johnson) Darnall, 86, died Oct. 28, 2007, in Worland at the Washakie Medical Center. She was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Lingle, Wyo., to Frank L. and Mary Kay (Damero) Johnson. Paulene was raised in Lingle-Fort Laramie. She married Wayne L. Darnell March 1, 1941 in Ft. Laramie. Wayne served in World War Two shortly after they were married. The couple and their children lived in Fort Laramie, Jackson, Bosler Canyon, Lovell and retired to Dubois in 1980. She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1962 with a bachelor's degree in education, the same year her daughter Sandra graduated from Dubois High School. She was an educator in the Dubois, Byron and Lovell school districts until her retirement. Paulene loved to read and work crossword puzzles. She spent many enjoyable hours fishing around the lakes of Dubois with her good friend Pauline Tjomsland. She and her husband Wayne spent many years hunting for artifacts around the state of Wyoming. They also enjoyed working together in their mutual hobby of lapidary. They enjoyed snowmobiling and socializing with their friends in Dubois. She was a member of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Dubois where she was choir director and played the organ. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Paulene moved from Dubois to Worland in 2004 to reside with her daughter Sandra and husband Tom Eller. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, Wayne L. Darnall. She is survived by her brother Leroy (Inga) Johnson of Douglas, daughter Sandra (Tom) Eller of Worland, son Leslie (Roberta) Darnall of Laramie, grandchildren Tawnya (Barry) Herdt of Powell, Kimberly Gene Darnell and Leslie Nichole Darnell of Laramie and great-grandchildren Bryson W. Herdt and Brady L. Herdt of Powell. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Dubois. Burial followed at the Dubois Cemetery.
