Son of Henry Ream and Jane (McCarty) Ream. Siblings; Marcellus M, Mary Rebecca, Ella, Fannie Jane, John H. and Clara Ream. Half siblings; Nina M, Mabel Edna, Leon Lavern and William Roy Ream. Step siblings; Henrietta, Laura, Lue Alice, Matilda and Frank Morris Hirsh. Married Sina Rebecca McPherson on 6 Feb 1871 in Dakota Co., NE. (Nebraska Marriage Records). Dakota City, Nebraska, 6 Dec 1928, Thursday, Pioneer of 1856 Passes Away Summary Charles H. Ream, probably oldest pioneer resident of Dakota county, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 2, at the home of his daughter Mrs. C. B. Crego, at the age of 79 years, due to advanced age. He was born in Somerset county, Pa. November 22, 1949. Son of the late Henry Ream, one of the first settlers of Dakota county, locating in Omadi, now extinct, in May 1856. In 1864 he came to Dakota City. He married in 1870 Sina McPherson, who died February 28 1923 (note: dates hard to make out). Surviving are four sons; Tom of Dakota City, Carl of Martinsburg, Nebr., Chester of Akron, Ia., and John N who lives in Neosho, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. M. J. Miller, who lives in Seattle, Washington and Mrs. C. B Crego and Mrs. Will Bartels of this place; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Mary R McBeath, South Sioux City and Dr. Nina R Smith of Los Angeles, Cal., and two brothers, John H. Ream of Dakota City and Leon L Ream of Homer, Nebr. also survive him. A daughter Eva, died in infancy and a son Albert (Burt) died March 6, 1926. For the past three years he has made his home with his daughter Mrs. Clyde R Crego. Services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist Church. Burial was made in the Dakota City cemetery. 5 Sons; Carl C (1871-1937), Albert (1873-1927), Thomas (1875-1972), Chester Nolan (1879-1950), John Norman Ream(1885-1963). 3 Daughters; Mayme (William) Bartels (1877-1955), Mabel Alice (Clyde) Crego (1889-1950) and Lillian (Murphy) Miller (1884-1933) 1 deceased infant; Eva (possible Baby Ream, Memorial 78478464 in Omaha Valley Cemetery) 1900 and 1910 census 8/9 children Eva, the little two year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Ream, died Tuesday (4 Jan) of last week, after many months of sickness. The funeral services were held at the family residence Saturday (6 Jan) afternoon.
