Lois Faye Casteel, 62, of Burwell, Nebraska died March 15, 2021 at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. The family will have a memorial service at the First Congregational Church in Burwell, Nebraska on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Alan Petersen will officiate. Inurnment will beat a later date in Cottonwood Cemetery. Lois was born April 10, 1958 in Burwell, Nebraska to Clifford and Evelyn (Barta) McBride. Lois graduated from Burwell High School in 1976. She then attended the University of Nebraska and received her Bachelor’s Degree. She later received her Masters Degree from Kearney State College. Lois taught school at Ericson and Burwell for seventeen years. She continued to substitute teach and work various other jobs. She later worked for Petersen Lumber Carhart Lumber. She retired in May of 2020 to be a caregiver to her son, Jess. Lois was an active member of the First Congregational Church. She enjoyed quilting, crafts and was the family computer tech person. Lois is survived by her son, Wade Casteel of Burwell, Nebraska. Two step-sons, Cody Casteel of Nashville, Tennessee and Cole Casteel of Columbus, Nebraska. Two sisters, Sandy and Bernie Lech of Burwell, Nebraska and Phyllis and Doug Barker of Wood River, Nebraska. Lois was preceded in death by her parents. A son, Jessie Casteel. A brother, Gary McBride and a sister, Doris McBride.
