Kathryn Ann Sweenie, 1941-2009. Kathy surrounded by the love of her family peacefully passed on June 13, 2009. A beloved sister of 10, Kathy being the oldest had a “unique” sense of humor, a measureless heart of gold and a deep love for her family and friends. Kathy was born on Aug. 13, 1941, to Lonnie and Mary Kuta of Columbus. She attended St. Mary’s College in Omaha. She married Donald Sweenie, 25 years (deceased) of Columbus. She is survived by siblings Karen (Peter) Ward of Walnut Creek, Calif., Marilyn (Marni) Broz of Henderson, Nev., Elizabeth “Betty” (Don) Hegi of Broomsfield, Colo., Margaret “Peggy” (Dennis) Kruse of Columbus, Patrice (Roy) Orr of Eugene, Ore., Mary Ellen (Keith) Watchorn of Columbus, Christine Kuta of Columbus, Timothy (Elaine) Kuta of Columbus, and Terry Kuta of Columbus. Aunt and our “Great Aunt” Kathy was much loved and will be dearly missed by her many caring nieces and nephews. Leslie Ward (Brian) Mague, their children Braden and Lila Kay. Lorianne Jackson (Jeffrey), their children Grace E., Ward and Kathryn Appell. Shawn Broz (Sarah), their children Jackson and Cole. Eric (Kerry) Hegi, their children Cooper, Griffin and Addison. Nathan Lee Hegi, Karen Renae (Joe) Strawn, and children Morgan, Tyler and Jacob. Jason (Michelle) Kruse, their children Maggie and Jacob. Jamie Kruse. The Orr children: Sarah, Kaitlyn, Michaela (John) Teopke, Hallie and Quentin. The Watchorn children: Travis, Troy, Tara (Mariah, Keiton) and Thad. The Tim Kuta children: Austin, Alex, Dylan and Alyssa. Terry Kuta son: Justin and his brother Zachary. “Yes,” Kathy shared lots of hugs and kisses and was much loved. Kathy recently retired from the banking business after 25 years of dedicated and valued service. A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Kathy’s Life will be held at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church in Columbus on June 25 at 10:30 a.m. Luncheon to follow at Wunderlichs. A California “CELEBRATION” of Kathy’s life will be held the weekend of July 24-26.
