Frank James Smoldas, age 90, of Crockett, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 at his home. Frank was born May 23, 1930 in the Lone Pine Community to parents, Dobroslav Smoldas and Francis Elzner Smoldas. In his younger years, he served as an Alter Boy at St. Francis of Catholic Church and when dating Shirley, he attended the First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Frank worked for Texas Power and Light for 5 years and then went to work for the Texas State Highway Department retiring after 34 years. He married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Rains in 1959 and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Frank was known as a hard worker, a mean bass player, clean rides and award winning yards. He enjoyed country music, especially Ray Price, fishing, grilling, planting and yard work and his beloved grandson's sporting events. Frank was a good man who loved his family and will be missed, always loved and Never Forgotten. He was preceded in death by father, Dobroslav Smoldas; mother, Francis Elzner Smoldas; sister, Lillie Charanza; brother, Vic Smoldas and wife, Rita; brother-in-law, Tim Rains. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Evergreen Memorial Park. CALLAWAY-ALLEE FUNERAL HOME
