Bio

Mary Lee Man Naizer formerly of Granger died peacefully December 29, 2007 in Austin where she lived for the past 5 years. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:00 with Rosary recited at 5:30 on Tuesday, January 1, 2007 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life Mass will be Wednesday January 2, 2007 at SS. Cyril and Methodius Church in Granger, viewing will be one hour prior to Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Granger. Mary Lee was born August 26, 1915 to Czech immigrant parents Alois and Alzbeth Matyasova Man who at the time lived in the Taylor community. Mary Lee and Henry began their life as farmers in Granger community on November 15, 1933 having moved to the two story Victorian home and farm that Henry s grand parents, Valetin and Filomena Bartosh built when they first settled in Granger in 1883. In 1946 when Henry and Emil Naizer became owners of the Baca and Bohac Hardware and Furniture Store, Mary Lee soon found her time being filled as the gift department manager and bookkeeper for the new Naizer Hardware and Furniture. She truly enjoyed this occupation as many a young bride between 1946 to 1975 were assisted by Mary Lee in their selection of their wedding dowry. After Mary Lee and Henry retired in 1975 they enjoyed traveling with the Granger Road Runners travel group. Her love of song was inherited from her mother who loved to sing. She loved singing with the SS. Cyril and Methodius Senior Choir and had found memories of those trips to the State Fair and other Texas locations where this fine Czech choir entertained all. Her greatest thrill however was when the Most Reverend Cardinal Beran of Czechoslovakia celebrated Mass in Austin and the choir was invited to sing the Mass in Czech. She was a proud member of the K.J.Z.T and the K.J.T of SS. Cyril and Methodius parish. Memorial may be made to the SS. Cyril School in Mary Lee Naizer s memory. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, her parents and her sisters, Lydia Tobolka, Mildred Naizer and Elizabeth Man. Mary Lee is survived by her son Hank and his wife Mildred, two grandsons, Scott and his wife Sarah of Austin and Jon of Flower Mound, Great-grandchildren, Jonathan Franklin, Zachary, Elizabeth, Jessica, Rachel and Lauren. Her family also included her niece, Lydia Kurtin and nephew Henry L. Tobolka and wife JoAnn. Her extended family were her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to share their words of comfort in an online tribute at www.providencefuneralhome.com.
