Bio
Sharon Lee Christy Neely left this world to join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 13 2021. Sharon passed away in her sleep having dealt with Dementia for many months. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Catherine Christy, as well as her sister, Caroline. Sharon was born in the Presbyterian Hospital on October 6, 1939. Her parents were living in Magdalena but they came to Albuquerque for her birth. Sharon attended elementary school in Farmington, NM and middle and high school in Albuquerque and she graduated from Highland High School in 1957. Sharon started college at the University of New Mexico, where she met her husband to be, Larry Neely. They were married on June 19, 1959. Sharon leaves her husband, Larry, along with three daughters and five grandchildren, Brenda Johnson (Arnold) of Albuquerque, Deborah Moore (Hutch, deceased) of Decatur, GA and Kimberly Hoyt (David) of Mechanicsville, VA, her grandchildren, AJ and Andrew Johnson, Berkeley and Gaines Moore and Benjamin Anderson, all living back east. Sharon and Larry left Albuquerque and moved to Utica, NY in 1973 and lived in Cardross, Scotland, Greenville SC and Radnor, PA as they followed Larry's work assignments with the Singer Company. Larry retired in 1994 and they returned to Albuquerque to enjoy retirement. They were able to travel to six of the seven continents and over 60 countries which included two African Safaris. They are members of Tanoan Country Club where they enjoyed golf and bridge. Sharon was a member of Newcomers and Encore where she enjoyed the activities and met many people who were new to Albuquerque. Sharon was also a member of Sandia Presbyterian Church. Sharon never met a stranger. Sharon was always smiling and enjoyed her time here on Earth. Sharon will be sorely missed by all who knew her, but mostly her family. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future.
