Bio

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bladt Sindt, daughter of Magdalena and George Bladt, was born near Minden, Iowa on March 11, 1884. She was baptized in the Minden Lutheran church. It was in the community of Minden that she spent her childhood and early youth. She was united in marriage to Gustav Sindt, February 20, 1906. They then settled on a farm near Minden and later to a farm near Shelby. Here they lived and farmed from 1918 until 1944, when they retired and moved into the town of Shelby. In recent years, Mrs Sindt was in failing health, and passed away at her home May 1, 1953 at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 14 days. She leaves to mourn her passing, the following; her husband, Gustav Sindt of Shelby; eight children, Ella Berg, George Sindt, both of Shelby; Emma Plagmann of Avoca; Alma Jones of Manning; Mabel Stuhr of Council Bluffs; Gustav Sindt Jr. of Shelby; Hilda Christiansen of Harlan; Edna Nelsen of Shelby. Three sisters, Mrs Mary Haas and Ella Bladt of Shelby; Mrs Minnie Jetschat of Walnut; and two brothers, Dan Bladt of Shelby and John Bladt; and 15 grandchildren. Preceding her in death were two daughters who passed away i infancy and two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church in Shelby with burial services at the Minden cemetery. Officiating pastor was the Rev. Stanley Carlsen.
