Virginia Lee Spurlin August 31, 1937 - January 23, 2021 Virginia Lee Spurlin of Mart, Texas, passed away on January 23, 2021. A private burial was held at the Mart Cemetery. Dr. Spurlin was born August 31, 1937, in Mart, Texas, to Robert Jerry and Effie Freeman Spurlin. She attended Mart schools before attending Baylor University where she received her Bachelor's degree. She later obtained her Master's and Ph.D. degrees from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Virginia loved teaching History and English. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Francis Spurlin and Charles Spurlin. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Spurlin, of Mart, Texas. Virginia never met a stranger and will be remembered for her love of people, animals, books, and the Lord. She was a lifelong Baptist. One of her nephews refers lovingly to Dr. Spurlin as "Aunt Ginger." Littlepage Funeral Home, Mart, Texas.
