Albina "Bena" Sauer, 89, formerly of Shell Lake/Sarona, died on Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at the San Diego Hospice Unit. She was born on Oct. 6, 1910, in Haugen, to Anton and Caroline (Herbolt) Posta. She attended school in Haugen and then graduated from Rice Lake High School. She went to business college in Superior.She married Wilfred Sauer in Haugen on June 27, 1933. They lived in Sarona. She had been the manager of Sarona State Bank, owner of Sauer's Grocery in Sarona, and a U.S. postal clerk in Sarona. She was Washburn County's deputy county treasurer for many years.She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Sarona, and after moving to Shell Lake, she became a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Ann's Guild.She is survived by a son, Gary (Tencha), Chula Vista, Calif.; four grandchildren, Karen Wylie, Trabaco Canyon, Calif., Jeffrey Sauer, Vista, Calif., Shirlee Grzanka, Bonita, Calif., and Kimberly Coulson, Anchorage, Alaska; and one great-grandchild, Katherine Wylie.She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers, and four sisters.A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Shell Lake, with the Rev. John Drummy officiating. Burial will be in Sarona Cemetery.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Pockat Funeral Home, Shell Lake.Pall bearers will be Jack Posta, Bobby Posta, Don Stodola, Bill Sauer, Tony Masterjohn, and David Parker. ::
