Bio
Terry Lee Nelsen, 66 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Bertrand Nursing Home. Terry was born on August 5, 1954, at Callaway, Nebraska, the eldest of four children born to James Roy and Shirley Mae (Stockham) Nelsen. Terry attended Callaway Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1973. On October 29, 1983, Terry was united in marriage to Cheryl Joyce Wilken at Hope Lutheran Church in rural Smithfield, and to this union, two children were born: Chris and Cory. The family made their home near Loomis, where he was employed at Sweeney Farms. The family later moved to Bertrand when Terry started working for Sun Mart in Holdrege. Terry enjoyed vegetable gardening, tending to his lawn and using his chainsaw, especially chopping down trees. Above all his family was most important and he always worked hard to provide for them. Terry always had a special connection with his grandson Morgan. He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church. Terry was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Terry leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Cheryl of Bertrand; children: Chris Nelsen and his wife, Julie of Kearney; Cory of Fargo, North Dakota; one grandson, Morgan Thyne; three siblings: Sharon Stahlecker and her husband, Randy of Alma, Nebraska; Wayne Nelsen and his wife, Bev of Omaha, Nebraska; Gary Nelsen and his wife, Deb of Marysville, Kansas; along with extended family, and many friends. There will be no visitation or memorial book signing, the family is honoring Terry's wish for cremation.
