Bio

Tee Jay Plimper Ward was the youngest of three daughters, born to Thomas and Annie Plimper in Saratoga, Texas. She received a B. S and an M. S in English in an era when young women did not pursue higher education. She turned that education into a 40-year career in teaching, specializing in junior and senior high school in the Houston area. In many cases, she was only a few years older than her students. Tee Jay married Spencer Ward in 1943, and they lived for 51 years in the Almeda, Texas area. She and Spencer were members of the Almeda Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Daughters of the American Revolution. At her death, she was a member of the St. Phillips Methodist Church in Houston, and was in an independent living facility in Houston. Tee Jay was known for her spunk and tenacity for life. She enjoyed a good card game with friends and loved spending time with her family. Many of her former students were lifelong friends.
