Bio

Charles Roy Piraino passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the great age of 104. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday , January 23, 2021 at The St. Joseph Cemetery in Ennis, Texas. The most Reverend Bishop Todd Bell will be officiating the service. Charles was born on September 3, 1916 in Oakgrove, Louisiana to Sam and Angela Piraino. He was the fifth child out of a family of ten children. When Charles was a young boy, his family moved back to Sicily where he attended school and became a tailor apprentice at a very young age utilizing those skills later in his life. While in Sicily, Charles also played soccer and was an avid fan of the sport for the rest of his life. Charles moved back to the US in 1932 to help his father and an older brother run a grocery store and butcher shop in Chicago, Illinois. In 1941, Charles was one of the first servicemen to be drafted into the Army during World War II. There he was stationed in California as part of the Medic Core and received an Honorable Discharge in 1945. Afterward he moved to Beaumont, Texas where he lived briefly then moved to Dallas, Texas and was partners in a grocery store with one of his brother in laws. While there, he met the love of his life, Helen Kriska, a beautiful, brunette from Ennis, Texas. Charles and Helen were married for 46 wonderful years until she passed away in 1995. Charles continued to live in the Dallas area until his passing. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife, parents, three brothers and four sisters. He is survived by two sisters, Louise Cozzi of Chicago, Illinois and Margaret Randolph of San Marcus, Texas and a number nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. J. E.
