Father: Colonel Levi SHARBUTT Mother: Minnie Lee Spouse: Dempsey BALLOW Child: Albert Cecil SHARBUTT Funeral services for Mr. Cecil Sharbutt, 89, of Levelland will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Second Baptist Church in Levelland with the Rev. Jerry Howe, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in City of Levelland Cemetery under the direction of George Price Funeral Home. He died at 1:25p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 in Covenant Hospital Levelland after an illness. Born on January 7, 1917 in Hubbard to Colonel Levi and Minnie Lee Sharbutt, he moved to Hockley County in 1934. He graduated from Whitharral High School and attended Texas Tech. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the Philippines. He married Dempsey Ballow on February 22, 1941 in Whitharral and she preceded him in death on May 21, 1984. He later married Chestene Brownlee on May 22, 1989 in Levelland. He retired from the US Postal service after 31 years. He also farmed and worked as a real estate broker. He served on the Levelland City Council for a time. A charter member of Trinity Baptist Church and Second Baptist Church, he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by a son, A.C. "Sonny" Sharbutt on February 3, 2004. Survivors include his wife, Chestene Sharbutt of Levelland; a daughter and her husband, Betty and Curtis Shults of Wolf-forth; a son and his wife, David and Patsy Sharbutt of Lubbock; a daughter in law, Karen Sharbutt of Springdale, Ark.; his stepdaughters, Joyann Harris of Seagraves, Betty Moore and her husband Garland of Sea-graves, Pat Johnson and her husband Gene of Plains, Faye Jonas and her husband Donnie of Ropesville; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, fourteen step grandchildren and thirty seven step great grandchildren.
