Bio
Susie Douglas, 95, passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, in a Houston hospital after a short illness. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Chapel Hill Memorial Hill Park. Viewing will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, at Bellmead Funeral Home. Originally from Alabama, as a young girl she and her family arrived in Texas by covered wagon many years ago. She lived in the Waco area with her family from 1952 to 1985. She worked at Nate Chadrow's, Tusa's Grocery and K-Mart for many years. At various times she and her husband also owned/operated a laundromat and a gas station. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of many years, A.M. Douglas; and sons, Weldon "Slim" Douglas and Wayne Douglas. Survivors include daughter, Mary Ellen Douglas Griffin and husband, Stephen F., of Houston; grandchildren, James Douglas, Stephen C. Griffin, Brian Griffin, June Patton, Debra Hurst, Carolyn White, Saundra O'Connor, Denise Mathews, Susie Cody and Linda Wars; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, too numerous to name.
