Bio
(Many thanks to fellow member Paula Norris Pierce for the following bio): Born to the union of James M and Anna C Pugh, Billie was the last born of six children...his siblings were: MaryLouise 1903-1977 Johnnie Mae 1906-1928 James Curtiss 1907-1965 Charles Westley "Jake" 1909-1972 Anna Lee 1913-2000 He finished high school in Corsicana and married Hattie Belle Grimes on March 6, 1938. By 1940 they were found living on 941 Courtlandt Street in Houston and Billie was working for Lack's Auto Suppy and then as a truck driver for a wholesale bread company. By August 7 or 1945 Their first son was born and they named him Billie Ray Jr..... By 1950 Billie and Hattie owned their own business as ice cream vendors living on 42nd street in Houston. According to his WW2 Registration Card Billie stood 5'7" 150 lbs with light complexion, brown eyes and brown hair.....
