Carol died in her sleep in her own home in Omaha. Carol was active with the Prison Ministry conducted at Underwood Hills Presbyterian Church in Omaha, where she was an active member. Carol helped with the every-Sunday-evening worship services at the church for Nebraska State prisoners and their families, as well as ex-inmates and their families. A meal was always provided for those who attended. Carol had come to that church through this ministry, and upon her release from prison, she became a very helpful volunteer for that ministry. She finally joined the church and was steady in her participation. She maintained a large supply of clothing in the church -- all very neatly categorized and organized. Inmates, upon release from prison, could come and get clothing at no cost to them. It was an important part of the ministry. Carol handled that very well and did it almost single-handily. She was always cheerful and amiable. (Nothing is known by this writer of her husband, Raymond Chereck, from whom she seems to have been separated for many years. He MAY be Robert Raymond Chereck, 1948-1984, buried in Omaha, see Findagrave #191891434.)
