Mr. Berry Charles "Butch" Crudgington, of Brady, Texas passed away at his home on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the age of 60. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, September 14, 2015, at the Brady Bulldog Stadium in Brady, TX with burial to follow in Downing Cemetery in Downing, TX . Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Berry Charles "Butch" Crudgington was born on July 9, 1955 in Breckenridge, Texas to Charles David "Art" and Marie (Sullivan) Crudgington. On May 27, 1978 he married the love of his life and his soul mate, Jodi Keating, in Cisco, Texas. Together they were blessed with two daughters, Shanna and Cara. Mr. Crudgington graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education, and later he received his Masters Degree from Angelo State University. He had a love and passion for music and he always desired to become a band director. He and Jodi moved to Brady in 1986, where he became the Band Director for the Famed Brady Bulldog Band (FBBB), where his "family" immediately grew. He was lovingly known by all of his band students as, "Mr.C", "Fuzzy", or "Bruce". Mr. Crudgington knew every one of his "kids" by name, and considering he saw anywhere from 150-300 students in a day, I do believe that this speaks volumes about his character. He saw the potential in every student that stepped into his Band Hall, from wood winds to brass to percussion, he made sure that everyone had their place and felt like a part of his FBBB family. Mr. Crudgington was a man of true grace, honesty, and integrity, and it is through his influence that many of his students are where they are today. He loved being a grandfather to his two beautiful grandchildren, Elizabeth and Connor, and cherished each and every moment that he spent with them. His family was his world and he loved them with everything that he had. He was a beloved husband, father, son, grandfather and friend. Mr. Crudgington's signature smile, his loving caring heart and his beautiful inner spirit will be truly missed but never forgotten. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marie (Sullivan) Crudgington. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Jodi (Keating) Crudgington of Brady, TX; his father, Art Crudgington and wife Barbara of Breckenridge, TX; two daughters, Shanna Martinez and husband Michael of Brady, TX and Cara Crudgington of Brady, TX; as well as two grandchildren, Elizabeth Steadham and Connor Martinez of Brady, TX. Family request that memorial donations be made in Mr. Crudgington's name to the ALS Foundation or to the Brady Band Boosters.
