Memorial services for Fred Basey, 66, of Huntington, Texas will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Ora Missionary Baptist Church. He was born October 4, 1944 in Huntington, Texas to the late Lizzie (Hall) Basey and Ben Basey. He passed away February 23, 2011 after a long, courageous battle with thyroid cancer. He owned and operated a broiler farm in San Augustine, Texas. Due to health reasons he retired to the lake on Sam Rayburn. He loved the lake, fishing and camping. He was a member of Ora Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving wife, Sammie Basey of Huntington; children and their spouses, Keith Basey and Jacque Smith, Chris and Janice Basey, Terri and Nathan Scott, Tina Basey; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Fern Basey and LaVerne Basey; step-daughter, Patti Holcombe; step-son and wife, Patrick and Stephanie Gammill; 6 step-grandchildren; sister-in-laws and their spouses, Mary and Larry Rowell, Judy and Ray Bickham, Lynne and Bill Duncan Mr. Basey was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sister. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Care, Houston, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ora Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O.
