Bio

Pearl was the daughter of Martin and Ella Perkins, born in Leesville, Louisiana. She married J. H. Caulock in Arkansas on Janary 8, 1927; they divorced on October 6, 1928. She then married Lawson Elwyn on November 10, 1928 in Garland, Arkansas. The couple moved first to El Dorado, Arkansas, shortly after their marriage, then to Lost Prairie, Arkansas, near Pearl's parents by 1930. Lawson and Pearl moved to Louisville, Kentucky by 1932, where they operated a grocery. They had one son, Luther Elwyn, who died in infancy. Lawson died in Louisville in October 1940. Pearl then married Lee Roy Bristow in Louisville in 1941. The couple had no children. Lee Roy died in Louisville in August 1962. Pearl remained in Louisville until her death. ............................................... The Courier-Journal, Louisville, Kentucky, December 3, 1995: "Pearl E. Bristow, 89, died Saturday at Audubon Regional Medical Center. She was the former Pearl E. Perkins, owner of the Toad Stool Inn and a member of the Churchman Chapel. Survivors: Sisters Myrtle Folley [sic], Vergie Drake and Wanda Keene. The body will be cremated. Visitation: Nunnelley, 4327 Taylor Blvd., noon-9 p.m. Sunday."
