Bio

Helen David, 81, of Taylor, Texas, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007 in Temple. She worked as a dietetic supervisor at a nursing home before she retired. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sorely missed by family and friends alike. Helen Josephine Vanecek was born on Aug. 27, 1926 in Sinton, to George Vanecek and Mary (Drozd) Vanecek. She married Clifton David on Aug. 7, 1950 in Granger, and was happily married for 46 years until her husband passed away on July 28, 1997. Helen was a member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, as well as a member in the KJZT and the Catholic Workmen. She enjoyed puzzles, reading, sewing and spending time with her family. Helen is survived by her son, Michael David and wife Pamela of Taylor; her granddaughter, Lesley David of Denton; her grandson, Chad David of Taylor; her granddaughter, Kimberly Klein and husband Russell of Austin; her sister, Sybil Mokry of Round Rock; her brothers, George Vanecek and wife Margie of Taylor, Dan Vanecek and wife Sybil of Taylor, and John Vanecek and wife Melinda of Huntsville. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Joyce Anderson; her son-in-law, Doug Anderson; and her brother, Tim Vanecek. Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 24 from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the Condra Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. at Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, with the Rev. Joseph Nisari officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum in Granger. Pallbearers will be Chad David, Duane David, Vincent Mokry, Mike Janak, Rick Matetzschk and Noe Cortez. Condra Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
