On stone with Della A. Reznicek
George Weldon Reznicek, 78, of Bellmead, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1309 Hogan Lane, Bellmead, (254) 799-3211, with Pastor Walter Albers officiating. Burial will follow at Riesel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, Dec. 20, at Bellmead Funeral Home, 809 LaClede, Bellmead, (254) 799-5701. George was born in Floydada, Texas, to the late Frank and Francis Reznicek. At age 12, George and his family moved to West and then to Bellmead. In 1950, he married Della Agnus Schroeder. George was a man of few words and was best known for his lifelong love of fishing and his strict work ethics. He was a charter member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead and a member of the V.F.W. Post 4819 in West. George served in the U.S. Army's 44th Infantry Division Philipino Scouts in Okinawa, Japan, from 1948 to 1949 during the Korean War. George came home in late 1949 and then was called back to duty in 1950. He trained in Fort Hood, Texas, and Camp Stoman, Calif., and then was deployed back to Okinawa, Japan, where he proudly served in the 29th Infantry Regiment in the Chemical Corps. Upon returning from Japan, George went into the U.S. Army's active reserves for five years. George then went to work for General Tire in Waco, where he worked many long hours in the curing room until retiring in 1986. George was preceded in death by his loving wife Della, who fought a very long and courageous battle with cancer November 1998; and brother, Frank who was killed in action while proudly serving our country in U.S. Army's Air Corp in World War II. George left behind his son, Mark and wife, Audrey, of Houston; daughter, Robyn, of Bellmead; grandchildren: Heather, Chad, Samantha, and Brandon; great-grandchildren: James, Hailey and Faith; and sister, Ethel Kocian, of Waco; other relatives and many friends.
