Bio

Conway Humphrey was born November 20, 1942, in Carriere, Mississipi. He resided just outside Taylor, Texas, in East Williamson County. He went home to be with Jesus on April 7, 2014. Conway was preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Ruby Humphrey. His first wife and mother of their two sons, Brenda Nell Humphrey, preceded him in death in 2004. Conway is survived by his wife, Jan Humphrey; two sons, Christopher Humphrey and wife, Sarah, and Michael Humphrey and wife, Jane; seven grandchildren, Brittany and Nathan Humphrey, Hunter Dickson, twin Humphrey babies due this fall, and Annaleigh and Joey Stone. He is also survived by his sister, Uintia Roberts and brother, Beauford Humphrey; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Papa Conway also has four adopted by love grandsons, Ephraim, Noah, Gideon, and Benjamin. Conway proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He had a long career in the telecommunications industry retiring with AT&T and then forming his own company 360 Telecommunications. He was a farmer, a rancher, a builder, and jack of all trades and master of most. He loved good conversation, he never lacked for a story, he was never without a project for himself or some other blessed soul, he loved the Texas Longhorns, and he loved and lived life to the full. Conway was a committed member of Christ Fellowship Church in Taylor where he served as an Elder and a loving and faithful servant to all. You would find him every Sunday morning on the porch greeting you with that big booming "good morning" and his warm genuine smile. If you knew Conway, you know he loved his family and friends dearly, but above all he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loved to read and discuss the Scripture and he found great joy in sharing God's love and God's word with others. He was a faithful man, a source of strength, and a great encouragement. He will be very greatly missed by all. Conway is in glory rejoicing and for that we praise God and rejoice with him. Visitation will be Friday April 11, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home. Service will be Saturday April 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Fellowship Church, 1517 McLain, Taylor, Texas.
