Bio

Leroy James Safarik, 64, of Taylor died Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Friday, August 24, 2001 at Providence Funeral Chapel in Taylor. Celebration of Mass will be 10 AM, Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor with Msgr. Lonnie Urban officiating. Burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Leroy was born on October 16, 1936 to John and Carrie (Mikus) Safarik in Taylor, TX. He married Dorothy Morgan on August 24, 1963 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Leroy enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brothers, nephews and his sons-in-law. He is most remembered for his sense of humor and his "teasing". He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy on August 15, 2001, four brothers, one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law. Leroy is survived by his three daughters, Vickie Cohn and husband, Audie of Spring, Denise Titlow and husband, James of Thorndale and Cynthia Safarik and fiancé, Matthew Phifer of Austin; two granddaughters, Courtney and Kayle Titlow of Thorndale; one sister, Dorothy Werchan of Taylor; and numerous other relatives. Pallbearers will be Jesse Safarik, Larry Safarik, Arnie Safarik, Kent Safarik, Arnold Raesz, Jr. and Douglas Wolbrueck. Honorary pallbearers are Edward Betak, John Dube and George Titlow.
