Bio
Mary Ann Kotrla, age 91, of Taylor passed away peacefully on September 14, 2018, at the SPJST Skilled Nursing facility. Mary, born August 8, 1927, to Vince and Alice Shiller Faltesek near Thrall, Texas, where she also attended school. On May 7, 1960, Mary was united in marriage to Edwin Kotrla at the Taylor Brethren Church and were blessed with 38 years of happiness. Prior to her marriage, Mary was a cospetologist, and afterwards devoted her time being a mother, homemaker, and farmer's wife. Mary's life will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, gentleness, and Christian spirit. Mary was preceded in death by husband, Edwin Kotrla; her parents; brothers, Tom, Vince, and Jerry Faltesek. Her survivors are sons, Larry Kotrla and Edwin Kotrla Jr. Also surviving are brothers, Ben Faltesek (Sue), Alvin Faltesek (Sandy), and sister Alice Bracewell; sisters-in-law, Margie Faltesek, Kathy Faltesek, Dorothy Kotrla, and Evelyn Bouska; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was a lifetime, deeply committed and faithful member of the Taylor Brethren Church. She belonged to the Christian Sisters of the Church and also was a member of SPJST Lodge 29, Taylor. The family would like to express their gratitude to the SPJST Skilled Nursing and the Assisted Living Facility staffs for their kindness and the caring attention which they gave to Mary. A visitation will be held on September 18, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Providence Funeral Home, Taylor, Texas. The funeral service will be held at the Taylor Brethren Church, 710 Sloan Street, Taylor, on Wednesday, September 19, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Taylor Brethren Church, P.O. Box 351, Taylor, Texas, 76574.
