Son of Archibald Carmichael & Elizabeth Nix Carmichael. He married Martha Pennington Aug. 5, 1824 in Pilot Mountain, Surry County, N. C. Their children: Henry, Archibald, Starling, Josephine, Constant Joseph, Augustine, Elizabeth, Stacy Ann, and Martha Jane.
