Retired, Burlington Northern Railroad after 36 years of service as crane and forklift operator. Member, VFW Post 131; American Legion, Valparaiso; Capital City Czech Choraliers; Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Valparaiso. Graduate, Paxton High School. Attended University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Served in World War II, 1942-1945, attained rank of staff sergeant. Active duty in 1943. Survivors: sons, daughters-in-law, Donald D. Sabata and special friend Candi Sapp, Garland, Alvin and Debra Sabata, Ronald J. and Geraldine Sabata, all Lincoln; daughters, sons-in-law, Patricia K. and Bernard Heinemann, Wallace, Kathryn S. and Fred Gesser, Wayne, Pa., Mary A. and Terry Brown, Raymond, Judy A. and William Nissen, Raymond; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Sabata, Lincoln; brother, sister-in-law, Norbert and Blanche Sabata, Paxton; sister, Sally Kiolbasa, Grant; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
