The Los Angeles Daily Times (Los Angeles, CA.), P. 15, Col. 1 Tue., Aug. 27, 1912 BOY MAY HAVE RUN AWAY. Belief Entertained at San Bernardino that Young Littlefield Has Merely Repeated Old Trick. SAN BERNARDINO, Aug. 26 - Another day of searching for missing Leslie Littlefield, 15 years old, who disappeared Tuesday of last week in Little Bear Valley brought no results. Several crews were working from light this morning until dark, dragging the lake. Samuel Littlefield, father of the missing boy was personally in charge of the search. For six nights and days the father has hardly slept or eaten. All day and night he rows the lake or walks the banks. The belief that the boy was drowned during an electrical storm grows. At first persons who know the family were inclined to believe that he ran away. Twice before he has disappeared, but each time a day or two absent would see him home again. The mystery of the present case is that his hat has not been found. Lake residents declare his hat would have been carried ashore if the boy had drowned. The San Bernardino Daily Sun (San Bernardino, CA.), P. 9, Col. 6 Thu., Aug. 29, 1912 NO NEWS YET OF MISSING BOY If Littlefield Was Drowned Body May Rise to Surface During Day Yesterday the ninth day since Leslie Littlefield disappeared in Little Bear Valley was devoted to a search for the boy, but without result. Today the lake waters, which are supposed by the boy’s father to hide the remains, will be watched closely, for it is believed that if the boy was drowned the body will come to the surface today. Preparations have been made to patrol the lake with a little power launch. Relatives will also be out in row boats. There will also be a number of patrols to survey the shore line, and keep eyes open for the possibility of the remains drifting into one of the many little coves where the boats may not be able to enter. The relatives, especially Samuel Littlefield, the father, are firm in their opinion that the boy lost his life in the lake during the fierce storm which raged over the Little Bear Valley section the day the adventuresome youngster paddled out from shore on his last fishing trip. The San Bernardino Daily Sun (San Bernardino, CA.), P.6, Col. 2 Sat., Aug. 31, 1912 LESLIE LITTLEFIELD A simple funeral service was held yesterday afternoon from the parlors of Stephens & Son for Leslie Littlefield, the unfortunate little fellow who lost his life on Little Bear lake 10 days ago. Many friends gathered in sympathy for the bereaved father and brother, many beautiful flowers being sent by the acquaintances of the young lad. Rev. Thomas Phillips conducted the service. Interment was in the City cemetery beside his mother who passed on about two years ago. Inquest results; drowned
